PressKL: From Miri to a Strategy-Led Agency | Paperballad&Co.

Paperballad&Co. started in 2022 with roots in Miri, Sarawak.

A lot has changed since then.

The clients have grown.

The problems have become more complex.

And so has the way we think about the work.

Today, we spend less time asking:

“What should we make?”

And more time asking:

“What actually needs to change?”

That shift has increasingly shaped Paperballad around the intersection of UX strategy, content marketing and consumer understanding, particularly for established brands managing more channels, audiences and customer touchpoints.

Producing more content is rarely the difficult part anymore, the harder part is making sure all that activity still builds one clear brand.

A customer might meet the same company through social media, a website, an advertisement, an influencer or an offline experience.

Internally, those touchpoints may belong to different teams.

To the customer, they all become one impression. That is why we increasingly see the agency relationship as something deeper than receiving briefs and producing deliverables. The more useful role is getting close enough to understand why the work is being created in the first place.

Sometimes the brief is right.

Sometimes the real problem sits somewhere underneath it.

Press KL recently explored this next phase of Paperballad, including our roots in Miri, our Backed by Science framework and our ambition to build longer-term strategic partnerships with established brands.

The starting point was Miri. The part we are more interested in now is what comes next.

► Sharper thinking.

► Stronger work.

► Closer partnerships.

And becoming more valuable to the brands we work with.

SAN FRANCISCO COFFEE

Making a familiar brand relevant again.
Coffee is part of everyday life. The morning rush, the afternoon reset, the catch-up that lasts a little longer. These small moments became the starting point for a fresh approach to San Francisco Coffee’s storytelling.

The challenge was to make a familiar brand feel relevant again—to give people a reason to connect beyond the latest promotion.

We shifted the focus towards the everyday moments surrounding each cup. Products and seasonal campaigns became part of a wider story, grounded in familiar routines, shared moods and the simple pleasure of taking a coffee break.

The creative direction paired the brand’s recognisable identity with a more conversational tone and playful, relatable content. Each post became an opportunity to bring San Francisco Coffee closer to the people behind the orders.

A fresh chapter for a familiar brand, built around the moments that make people reach for a cup.
